About me

Hey, I’m Patty Suárez, a licensed barber and certified Coherent breath worker. I’ve been cutting hair and practicing breath work for eight years. My cutting career has been mostly in queer spaces with some masculine environments mixed in.

I began offering my hair clients the “coherent breathing” approach to breath work as New York City started opening back up after the 2020 Covid lockdown, first on my girlfriend's rooftop in Brooklyn and then in my East Village apartment. Now in this new two-room studio at 401 Broadway, there is a room dedicated to breath work and one dedicated to hair cuts.

All are welcome.

Old clients, new clients, current clients, haircut only, breath only, or both. Feel free to try one once and/or stick to the other, or do both every time. You are invited to fit into this space however you like.

Please read more about my approach to hair cutting and explanation of Coherent Breathing in the designated haircuts and breath work sections of the website.

And regarding me personally, I’m a born and raised New Yorker who grew up in Queens. All my work is informed by my immersion in art, writing, activism, queer culture, healing, my bloodlines and spirituality. A Bolivian mother and an Ecuadorian father took part in making me. My first language is Spanish, and I'm happy to work with you in either language.

In addition to working with my hair and breath clients, I’ve also written on hair and politics for Buzzfeed, I’ve taught breath work to college students, and I facilitated a live breath work session as a guest on JD Samson’s TV show “The Pits” on Vans Channel 66.
